Aden Adde International University (AAIU) is a non-profit institution, registered with the Ministry of Higher Education of Somalia. The conception of AAIU took place in late 2015 with a group of Somali intellectuals lead by Prof Dr Osman Aden Abdulle, a prominent physician and geneticist who has spent his entire life in the service of his people. Following a civil war that destroyed the entire existing infrastructure, education institutions were amongst the greatest casualties of the war. University students faced multiple challenges including lack of facilities, qualified and experienced teachers, a lack of learning resources and most importantly internationally recognized qualification or accreditation.
